TRUST ABUSED

P.W.D. OFFICIAL GAOLED “OFFENCES TOO FREQUENT” “It is regrettable to find a young man like you in this position,” said Mr. Justice Herdman in the Supreme Court this morning to William Nealie, who had pleaded guilty to seven charges of theft as a Government official. His Honour said the prisoner was 27 years of age and had led a respectable life until he had been placed in a position of trust with the Public Works Department. On several occasions he had taken monev for his own use. “These offences are unfortunatel.v coming before the courts too often,” said his Honour, "and probation is out of the question. You will be detained for reformative purposes for 12 months.”
