AUCKLAND BOXING

MONDAY’S CONTESTS BOUT FOR FEATHER TITLE Duke Maddox, feather-weight champion of New Zealand, will meet his challenger, Johnny Leckie, ex-amateur feather-weight champion, in a 15round contest for the title at the Town Hall on Monday evening. This bout should provide patrons with plenty of good boxing, as Maddox has the reputation of being a fine boxer. Leckie has not lost a decision since joining the professional ranks. Another professional bout of 10 rounds is also to be staged. Matt Hatton, the well-known Auckland feather-weight, who has a decision over Charlie Purdy as an amateur, will meet P. Black, who will be remembered for his stirring fight here with the late Roy Overend. There will also be a six-round clash between the two Auckland amateur feather-weights, Clarkson and Leslie, who had a great fight in the amateur championships, when Clarkson obtained the decision.
