A DAY OF PROTEST

N,Z. CENTRES JOIN Shall Sacco and Vanzetti die? Big meetings of protest are to be held to-morrow in Auckland, Wellington and other main centres of the Dominion. The Sacco-Vanzetti Relief Committee is mustering heavy artillery for a meeting in Quay Street in the afternoon when copies of the speeches in defence of the condemned men in the American courts will be distributed free. During the week the committee has forwarded to America a protest signed by the Italian Consul and has set about obtaining a sheaf of legal opinions against the sentence under which the two men stand condemned. W. Anderson and B. Davidson, on behalf of the West Coast miners, have sent three cables of protest to America. and will co-operate with the Relief Committee in any further action. Mr. Gavin C. Stove, Auckland secretary of the Alliance of Labour, has also cabled a protest to the United States against the death sentence.
