NURSES’ DANCE AT AVONDALE
A very successful dance was held last evening by the matron and nurses of the Avondale Mental Hospital. The ballroom was gaily decorated with streamers and bowls of rhododendrons and camellias, while the stage, where the musicians were seated, was converted into a cosy little lounge corner. Dance music, was provided by Parker’s Orchestra, and some delightful extras were played by Clive Howley and another member of the Dixieland Internationals. Miss Brand, the matron, received the guests,, and wore a frock of fine black lace over black satin. | Among those present were: i Mrs. Alexander Follick, wearing a frock of black georgette, with inset panels of I floral ninon, and a vivid shoulder posy, j Mrs. Mitchell, frock of mandarin blue 1 and nasturtium embossed chenille georgette. Mrs. Lewis, frock of black and silver embossed brocade. Mrs. Childs, black georgette frock 'with rows of rhinestone trimming. Mrs. Perry, black and lemon figured frock of silk voile. Mrs. L. Mitchell, gauged frock of peach satin trimmed with cream lace. Miss Brunswick, frock of black • lace. Miss Ford, black lace and taffeta frock. Miss Massey, frock of sequined peach georgette. Miss Allport, jade green frock of georgette. Miss Grose, black and gold embossed tissue frock. Miss Gav/1, scarlet and gold frock of lace and tissue. Miss McKay, petalled frock of cameo pink crepe faille. Miss Parkinson, frock of flame satin. Miss Helen Montague, embroidered frock of turquoise blue georgette with gold beading. Miss Wright, geranium red frock of chiffon velvet. Miss Reid, frock of apricot taffeta and lace. Miss Kirkcaldie, mignonette green taffeta frock. Miss McMahon, frock of cream lace and wisteria georgette. Miss Morton, tangerine frock of crepe de chine. Miss Paul, frock of petunia georgette. Miss Dejoux, sequined frock of black georgette. Miss Lang, electric blue taffeta frock trimmed with circular motifs. Miss Stone, panne velvet frock of geranium red shade. Miss Reid, floral embossed frock of rose pink taffeta. .Miss Smith, frock of pastel pink georgette. Miss Ansell, georgette frock of ombre green toning. Miss Wasson, white georgette frock with crystal and black beading. Miss Fawcett, taffeta frock of wild rose shade. Miss M. Fawcett, frock of gold tissue and lace. Miss Harrison, larkspur blue crepe de chine frock, with panels of lace. Miss Collins, crystal beaded frock of Persian blue georgette. Miss Tessington, frock of black and midnight blue satin carreau.
