Round the Churches
Holy Communion is to be celebrated at St. Matthew’s Church, Wellesley Street, to-morrow morning at 8 a.m. His Grace the Archbishop will unveil a memorial brass tablet during the morning service. The usual Sundayschool classes will be followed by the evensong at seven o’clock, when the Rt. Rev. Bishop Anderson will preach. The Associated Churches of Christ are holding services as usual to-mor-row at Ponsonby Road, Dominion Road, Richmond, Avondale, Pukekohe, Onehunga, M.ount Albert and Devonport. The Rev. C. G. Scrimgeour, of the Methodist Central Mission,, will hold an evangelistic service to-morrow. The subject of his discourse will be “A Preacher Breaks Gaol.” The usual Sunday afternoon service for men is to be held by the Y.M.C.A. at 4.15 p.m. to-morrow. The Rev. A. W. McMillan, who has just returned after three years in Fiji, will give an account of his experiences. Mrs. Harris-Roberts is to conduct a memorial service at the Spiritual Scientists’ Church, Newton, during the evening service. She will be assisted by Miss Jessie Smith. Mr. R. Simpson will conduct the morning service at the Royal Oak Baptist Church, while Mr. N. Nagel, of the New Zealand Bible Training Institute, will preach in the evening. An address on “Mind” is to be delivered at the First Church of Christian Scientists tu-morrow. Other services will be held as usual. The anniversary of the Grange Road Baptist Church is being celebrated tomorrow. The Rev. L. Sale-Harrison, 8.D., of Sydney, is to preach in the morning. The evening service will be conducted by the Rev. A. S. Wilson. There will be special choir items.
