NO JOINT MANAGER FOR DAIRY BOARD
LONDON REPRESENTATIVE RETURNS ON POOL Press Association. WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Dairy Control Board met today, when appreciation of Mr. W. Claud Motion’s services was placed on record and the appointment of his successor held over. The past year’s work was reviewed and the annual report and balance sheet adopted. The balance-sheet disclosed the following items: Export levies on cheese for the past year, £59,960 Is 2d. Interest on investments, £3,023 Ss 6d. Total income, £62,983 9s Bd. * Expenditure, excluding advertising, amounting to £19,667 3s Id, was £54,416 4s 7d. Accumulated funds drawn on to the extent of £11,199 18s. The sum of £2,050 16s lid remained for distribution on the first butter pool. Of the second butter pool 95 per cent, sold at an average price of 15Ss lid. The remaining 5 per cent, would only slightly rise the general average. The total marketing charges were 19s a cwt., the net return thus being 140 s, permitting a payment of Is 3 l-8d on finest grade, Is 25-8 d on first grade, and Is 1 5-Sd on second grade. Returns of the cheese pool showed that 87 per cent, had been sold at an average price of 83s 3d, the remaining 13 per cent, was selling at present. Improved prices should bring the average to approximately 84s, with total charges of approximately 14s, giving a rfbt reurn of 70s a cwt, or 7*d a lb should be averaged. It was anticipated that the wliey butter pool would finally average Is 2 l-8d first grade, and Is 1 l-8d second grade. The suggestion to share jointly with the Meat Board the services of the latter’s manager in London was not approved, and a committee was set up to inquire regarding the possible appointees and report to the next meet-
