HOCKEY PROSPECTS

FORECAST OF GAMES VARSITY SHOULD WIN A moderate standard of hockey can be expected at Remuera grounds on Saturday, and the state of the playing areas must militate against any firstclass exhibitions. Somerville should have a comfortable win over Epiphany, if the latter gives a similar display as it did against the students last week. A margin of three or four goals would be a likely figure. Somerville Colts v. Mount Eden is a match by no means easy to foretell. If Mount Eden plays off colour, as it certainly was when it suffered heavy defeat by Somerville seniors last Saturday, the White Colts have a reasonable chance of a win. At all events the encounter will be vigorously disputed, buit Eden, being the more experienced should bring off a win. University Colts should lose to St. Luke’s if the respective forms shown throughout the season are any indication. The students, nevertheless, have shown much improved work lately, and may be counted on to give the Reds a good fight. Still, superior team work will assure a victory for St. Luke’s. University seniors have been at the pinnacle of their form during the Devonport Shield series, and may be relied on to lower Wesley’s flag by a sound number of goals.
