Sydney Leaguers to Visit N.Z.

AUCKLAND TO GO ON TOUR TROUBLE IN FIXING DATES The Auckland Rugby League now finds itself in quite a complicated position. It is finding much difficulty in arranging suitable dates for the visit of the St. George team from Sydney , the Auckland reps, on tour, and local fixtures, which include the Roope Rooster and the champion of champions. A letter was received from the St. George Club confirming the acceptance of the Auckland League’s invitation. It was stated that a particularly strong side would be sent on tour. Every man at present playing in the club competition was available. The personnel of the St. George team will include F. Burge, A. Kelly, A. Justice and S. Brain, all State representatives. In addition other internationals in W. Benson. C. Tye, and G. Carstairs will be included. The Advisory Committee’s recommendation dealing with the tour and dates was the outcome of a long discussion, as the dates suggested by them involved complications owing to the previous intention of the league to send an Auckland team on tour to the South. Mr. W. Davidson said that it was imperative that the St. George Club should come to Auckland, and he would rather see them take the dates already set out by the Auckland team. It would not be wise to send the Auckland team on tour at the same time. Mr. Rhodes: Yes, there is certainly something in what you say. But I will leave it to you. Mr. Beere: But we must consider our own players. Many of them have been training and looking forward to the trip down South for some time. Mr. Fox said that the best 13 available should be kept to play against the Sydney team. It was finally decided to send the ; Auckland team on tour at the conclusion of the St. George’s Club visit. It was further resolved to submit the following dates to the St. George Club: i September 3,7, 10 and 14. A committee consisting of Messrs, i Culpan, Rhodes. Adamson and DavidI son was appointed to make definite arrangements immediately on receipt of the acceptance of the itinerary. Dates for other matches were approved as follows;—September 24, North v. South Island, at Auckland: October 1, second round Roope Rooster competition; October 8. final Roope Rooster competition: October 18, Stormont Shield: October 22. Rotorua v.
