ROTORUA WOMEN'S CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting: of the Rotorua Women’s Club was held in St. Luke’s Hall on Tuesday, August 16, Mrs. M. L. Richards presiding. The president gave a resume of the year’s work, which included the handing over of the Plunket car to the District Nurse, the furnishing of the Plunket room in Arawa Street, acting as local association to the Rotorua Girl Guides, and placing them on a firm financial footing. The club’s hospital work included the weekly sewing for the infantile paralysis patients at King George V. Hospital, and weekly visits to the patients at the sanatorium, with afternoon tea and a concert with varied musical programme each month. The nucleus of a club room fund, has recently been banked on fixed deposit. The club’s benevolent work, such as assistanting families in distress with payments of rent, food, clothing, and other household requirements, has depleted the club’s funds to a great extent. The president thanked the public of Rotorua for their generosity during the past 12 months, and hoped that during the coming year the club would take another step forward in all matters that are of special interest to women. A hearty vote of thanks to the retiring committee was proposed by Mrs. M. A. Thomsen, seconded by Miss Robertson and carried by acclamation. Afternoon tea served by the committee concluded a very pleasant afternoon. Millions of eggs have been preserved with SHARLAND’S EGG PRESERVATIVE —and thousands of pounds have been saved in this way. Plave you tried it? 8
