TO-NIGHT’S CONCERT

ROYAL AUCKLAND CHOIR PROGRAMME OF PART SONGS For the second concert of the Royal Auckland Choir’s 36th season, to be given at the Town Hall this evening, a programme fully representative of the choir’s extensive and varied repertoire has been selected. Under Professor W. E. Thomas, the choir has given close attention to the works in hand, and satsisfactory results should be attained. Granville Bantock’s rousing “Hunting Song” has been selected for the opening number, to be follewed by Dard’s “Nightfall,” “Viking Song” (Harrison), “Now is the Month of Maying” (Lovatt), “The Sea Fight” Paliard), “Dreaming” (Shelley) and “Bugle Song” from Tennyson’s “Princess” by Buck. Dard’s “Night and Day” will provide an appropriate closing number. The vocal soloists will be Mrs. Arthur Walter who will give Bemberg’s “Nymphs and Fawns,” “When Rooks Fly Homeward” (Rowley) and “A Birthday” (Cowen), and Mr. H. Schofield. The latter’s listed numbers are “The Floral Dance” (Moss) and Loln-’s “For the Green.” Additional variety will be lent by the appearance of Mr. Francis Bate in ’cello numbers. Mr. Bate will play “Paraphrase of the Song of the Evening Star” (Wagner), “Arelquin from Maskenballo Scene” (Popper) and “Air and Variations” (Haydn).

A very enjoyable programme should ■suit.
