Lancashire Has First Hit
E. TYLDESLEY’S FINE SCORE New Zealanders Begin Badly THE New Zealanders are engaged in a match against Lancashire at Manchester. The Home side batted first, and made an average county game total for first innings of 229. It collapsed after the fall of six wickets, the remaining four going for 25 runs. New Zealand did not start well, Dacre being trapped at the outset.

The most marked feature was Ernest Tyldesley's delightful cricket. He made his score in 190 minutes, hitting eight fours and six threes. The New Zealanders began badly, Dacre falling to a trap set by McDonald and Farrimond, when only
three runs were on the board. Thereafter Dempster and Blunt settled down, and with a fine dogged effort reached the drawing of stumps without further loss.
