THAMES BOROUGH
RATES REDUCED BETTER TIMES AHEAD (From Our Own Correspondent.) THAMES, To-day. Notwithstanding anticipations to the contrary, Thames Borough Council has been able to reduce rates for the ensuing year. The new levy will be as follows, last year s figures in parentheses:— Borough aggregate. Is m the £ (Is 9d); suburban, Is (is 82d). A reduction of 3d has also been effected in the water rate._ The estimated revenue is £40,095, and the estimated expenditure £4l,2Ub. It is generally felt that improved conditions are ahead of the borough, and when the Hauraki Bridge links up Thames with the plains accelerated business is confidently looked for.
