LAST LOAN MEETING
TRAMWAYS’ HALF-MILLION A lively meeting, of a goodnatured character, at Point Chevalier last evening, ending with a vote of confidence, concluded the series of meetings in the City Council's campaign in support of the £500,000 tramways loan. There was an attendance of about 250. The speakers were Crs. o. Mcßrine and M. J. Coyle. Cr. Mcßrine said the council proposed an extension of business, as distinct from an extension of debt. The items could not be separated. If they were they could imagine Point Chevalier voting for its own extension, and against Remuera. A Voice: They have motor-cars there. Cr. Coyle, urged the carrying of the loan as a turning point, while Cr. Allum stated that Point Chevalier had no security until it got a permanent tram service.
