A USEFUL GIFT

'THE gift of £I.OOO by Mr. John Court for the establishment of * a scholarship at the Agricultural College, Palmerston North, should prove as useful as it is generous. Mr. Court is a busy man of affairs in the city, but lie lias found time to explore some of the ramifications of farming, and his model farm at Tamaki, where there is a herd of magnificent Friesian cattle, is a tribute to the practical results of his interest. It was observed by a member of the University Council yesterday that the “gift habit” seemed to be growing. Mr. Court’s handsome donation will have the effect of directing increased interest to the Agricultural College, and there is every prospect that his example will be emulated.
