Taxi Driver’s Death.—Mr. Matthew Ledger, taxi driver, of Marama Crescent, Wellington, dropped dead in Stepney Place, off Vivian Street, about 7 p.m. yesterday.—Press Association. Drunken Driver Fined. —Victor Wilfred Flood, aged 61, was fined £2 at the Police Court to-day for being drunk in charge of a horse and cart. Soviet and Ukraine Rising. —The Paris newspaper “L’lntransigeant” publishes a telegram from Moscow stating that the Soviet is rushing troops to the Ukraine, where the situation is serious. —Sun. Youth Remanded. —Cedric Athol Whittome, aged 18, was charged at the Police Court to-day with stealing a watch valued at £3 10s and jewellery valued at £ 14. He was remanded to appear next Monday. Onehunga Roading.— At the next meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council, consideration is to be given to a proposed roading scheme for the whole of the uncompleted roads in the borough. Lorry Falls 200 Feet. —A large and heavily-laden motor-truck from Gisoorne fell 200 feet down a bank at p aw ’s Hill, Morere, at mid-day yesterday. The truck was completely smashed, but the driver escaped un-tourt-—Press Association. Car Strikes Verandah Posts. —Two verandah posts at Cucksey’s Buildings, at the corner of Mount Eden and stokes Roads, were damaged through struck by a motor-car yesterday afternoon. The driver states that he
