The newspaper “Osservatore Romano,” the organ of the Vatican, reports that the Fascist authorities have arrested five priests who hold high positions in the diocese of Udine, north-east of Venice. The paper says it does not know the reasons for the arrests. The Turin newspaper “Gazzetta del Popolo” says the arrests are owing to anti-Fascist intrigues, which the authorities could not tolerate any longer.—Times.
