GAMING RAID
£375 IN FINES BOOKIES’ WIRELESS SET Press Association. NAPIER, Monday. As the result of a police raid on Saturday afternoon, five men appeared in court this morning. James Samuel Golding, James Basil Corliss and Frank Hammersley Bax, who were charged with using premises as a common gaming-house, were each fined £IOO, with costs 10s. All pleaded guilty. William Taylor and Thomas Cato Patterson, who were charged with frequenting the street for the purpose of betting, were fined £25 and £SO respectively, with costs 10s. In the case against Bax, the police stated that he had two telephones and a wireless set for use in connection > with racing transactions.
