DEATH OF MR. J. BECKMANN
(From Our Oxen Correspondent.) PALMERSTON X., Sunday. The death has occurred at Rongotea of Mr. J. Beckmann. Mr. Beckmann, who was born at Danzig 89 years ago. had been resident in New* Zealand for 53 years. He first to<4k up his residence at Makino, but left there in ISSI and went to Campbelltow*n, then the name of the Rongotea township. He took up a block of bush land, working it as an ide«il farm until 20 years ago. when bo retired. Mrs. Beckmann died tec years ago. He leaves a family of ten. There are 15 grandchildren and five great-grand-children.
