RODNEY AND LONDON By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright LONDON, Sunday. Britain’s £7,000,000 battleship Rodney, the largest in the world, to-day left the Mersey, where slie was built, for Portsmouth for gunnery and speed trials.

The keel of the Rodney was laid ii 1922. She was launched in 1925. The battleship carries nine 16ir guns. A new 10,000-ton cruiser, the Lon don, will be launched at Portsmoutl dockyard on September 14. She is on of the County class laid down unde the 1925-26 programme. The previous London was a 15-rOOO ton battleship launched 28 years ago.— A. and N.Z.
