By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright LONDON, Friday. A British Professionals’ Lawn Tennis Associtaion was formally inaugurated Linder the presidency of Sir Samuel Hoare. Mr. O. F. Mousley, presiding, Stfiid there was nothing to prevent professionals and amateurs co-operating, as in the case of cricket. The day was not far distant when the British professionals would hold their own with any amateur in the world. The association was arranging a professional tournament for September, with the object of securing a combined tournament later. —A. and N.Z.

It was the 44tli time that the two provinces have met. In the series of matches Auckland has won 31, Taranaki 10, and three have been drawn. Sturday’s defeat was the heaviest that either side has inflicted.
