POLITE CHIMPANZEES
A queer quartette taking afternoon tea attracts much attention at the London Zoo. It comprises Jack, Jim, Clarence, and Bibi, four young chimpanzees, and the chimps. eat in a specially built cage, which spans the Mappin Terrace pond like a bridge. The four' are so clever and wellbehaved at meal times that it was thought that a public demonstration of their table manners would interest visitors. This comical tea party is proving a star turn of the gardens, for never before, on or off the stage, have four chimpanzees been trained to conduct themselves in such a mannerly and unselfish fashion in company. Seated in chairs around the cloth-covered table, the apes partake of dessert from plates passed round by Jack, and drink their milk from mugs. The chimpanzees politely help one another to the bananas, apples, and other dainties, and it is noticeable that Bibi is never lacking in such attentions from her male companions.
