MARKET QUIET KAURI TIMBERS FIRMER Business on the ’Change is dead. Xo sales were put through in the callroom this morning, and only one, Xew Waiotahis (con.) at 7d, was reported. In coals, Hikurangi (ord.) improved to see buyers at 2s. With, the exception of Renowns, most other coal shares are in good tone and in firm demand. Timbers are mostly firm, and buyers of Kauris this morning moved up to 24s 3d. Xo sale was put through. Mining continues weak and depressed, with the tendency downward. Waihis and Junctions are the only mining shares in good tone. Gilt-edged securities invite little interest.
