REGENT, EPSOM
“VENUS OF VENICE” When h charming little Venetian madcap, vivacious and impulsive, is thrown by chance into the company of a romantic artist from America and neither cares to be deaf to the lure of adventure, something exciting is certain to happen. In fact, such a combination leads to enough excitement for a lifetime in Constance Talmadge’s sparking new comedy drama, “Venus of Venice,” which is showing at the Regent Theatre, Epsom, to-night. “Venus of Venice.” the type of story in which Constance Talmadge excels, has come to be the talk of the town since she first flashed on the screen. In her portrayal of “Carlotta,” alias the “Water Rat.” the hoydenish canal gypsy whose capacity for mischief seems to be a limitless quantity. The role of the artist, “Kenneth Wilson,” whose efforts to curb “Carlotta’s” addiction to thievery bring surprising complications, proves an interesting ! one for Antoni Moreno. And the picture is featured further by the work of such capable supporting players as Edward Martindel, Julanne Johnston and Michael Vavitch. “Venus of Venice” was produced by Joseph M. Schenck for First National release. The picture was directed by Marshall Neilan from an original story by Wallace Smith*
