WINS AT MOOREFIELD ROYAL BLOOD IN A PLACE SYDNEY, Sunday. The Moorefleld meeting took place yesterday. The weather was fine and the groing was in good condition. The New Zealand-owned gelding Merry Mint scored a victory and Royal Blood, who also hails from Xew Zealand, ran second in another race. AUSTRALIAN STEEPLES VETERAN ROISEL SCORES MELBOURNE, Sunday. The Victoria Amateur Turf Club's meeting concluded at Caulfield yesterday in fine weather. The race track
was in excellent order. The following was the result of the leading events: THE AUSTRALIAN STEEPLECHASE Of 2,100 sovs; about 3J miles. ROISEL (R. T. Paterson), br g, by Blankney ll.—Cooyeanna, 13yrs, 12.9 i CLAN ROBERT (N. Falkiner), br g, by Sir Robert—Kosmos, llyrs, 12.11 . i 2 BELLANIUS (Cufciibertson and Landale), blk m, 7yrs, 9.0 3 Twelve started. Mount Cooper was the early pacemaker. Nyangay, the favourite, then took charge, and entered the straight second time round well in front of the field, but he fell at the next fence. Unoho also fell, bringing clown Glentronie and Perpetual. Mount Cooper and Clan Robert carried on the running, followed by Roisel and Bellanius. Clan Robert assumed the lead at the half-mile post from Roisel, and these two came into the straight on level terms. They fought out a great finish, Roisel winning by three-quarters of a length.
