MAORI MUTE SPEAKS

EFFECT OF A THRILL “MIRACLE” AT RUGBY MATCH Press Association. WANGANUI, Friday. A young Maori, who has been quite dumb for a number of years, and regained his speech quite suddenly during an exciting game of Rugby, now firmly believes that the age of miracles is not past. While watching a game between Wanganui and Wainui, a Rua subunion, his excitement became so intense that he suddenly gave a yell, to the amazement of himself and his companions at finding his speech recovered. He talked rapidly in Maori, and startled his relatives and friends so much that they thought he was bewitched of the devil.
