CHEAP—BUT A GOOD ONE

OF the few maidens pottering about at Epsom nothing has made anything like the improvement effected by F. Smith's Our Thorpe—-Belgium Queen colt, and he is displaying a rare turn of speed over a short distance. He has recently been “taking on*’ others with pretensions to higher class, and the manner in which he cleaned up the opposition was very encouraging to his popular ownertrainer. The Our Thorpe’s require careful handling in their young days and Fred has solved the problem, with the result that the unnamed maiden promises to be a real good sort later on. Like many another useful pacer, he was picked up pretty cheap, it being said the genial “Smithie” got him for the price of a few packets of cigarettes.
