APPOINTMENT OF REFEREES ASSOCIATION UP IN ARMS Press Association. CARTERTON, To-day At Thursday night's meeting of th* Wairarapa Rugby Union, the matte’ of appointing a referee to officiate in the representative match. Wairarap* V. Taranaki, at Carterton on Wednesday, was discussed. It was decided by six votes to five that the New Zealand Rugby Union be ask-'J to appoint a referee. This action is regarded by the Wairarapa Referees’ Association as highly insulting, and a reflection on th* ability of its members. It has, therefore, decided that unless the Wairarapa Union requests the Wairarapa Referees’ Association to officiate in next Wednesday’s match, it will not officiate in any representative fixture in Wairarapa, either senior or junior. Furthermore, the Wairarapa Referees’ Association decided to communicate with all outside referees’ associations. asking for support in the stand it had taken up, and not to officiate in any ordinary representative match in Wairarapa. In the interests of football in Wairarapa. the loca’ Referees’ Association decided to carr> on and act at the usual weekly inter club contests.
