MERCHANTS’ REPORTS Loth butter and cheese are easier on the Home markets, according to advice received in Auckland yesterday. Butter has declined 2s, while cheese is Is easier. Merchants report as follows: Joseph Nathan and Co., Ltd.—New Zealand butter, 168 s to 170 s; cheese, 92s to 9„s; both markets are easier. Dalgety and Co., Ltd.—Butter: New Zealand, finest salted, 168 s to 170 s; Danish, 176 s to 178 s; Australian, finest unsalted, 1725; salted, 168 s to 170 s. Cheese: New Zealand, white, 91s to 935; coloured, 91s to 935; Canadian, white. 90s to 945; coloured, 90s to 945; c.i.f., 92s to 945. Danish butter was firm owing to the demand from Germany, but Australian and New Zealand supplies were quieter, resellers operating at 2s less than the quotations cabled. Norden and Co.—Butter, salted, quiet at 170 s equal to Is 4.3 d, f.0.b.; unsalted, 1745, equal to Is 4.7 d, f.0.b.. Cheese, quiet at 935, equal to B.ld. f.o.b. The Port Auckland, Tairoa and Corinthic had arrived. LONDON MARKETS By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright LONDON, Thursday. Wheat.—Cargoes are steady, with a better inquiry. There are a few offers at 3d to 6d advance. Parcels are in moderate demand at 6d to 9d higher, owing to adverse weather reports from the Continent. Liverpool futures: October, 11s 3 7-8 d per cental; December. 11s 32d; March, 11s 3d: May, 11s 1 5-Bd. The spot trade is slow and prices generally are dearer; Australian ex-store, 56s 6d. Flour.—Steady. Australian ex-store, 41s 3d. Oats. —Firm. Australian, Algerian, 28s to 295. A grade Cartons, 30s to 31s. Peas.—Blue, in small demand; Tasmanian, 320 s to 3605; New Zealand, 320 s to 3405; Maples, slow” Tasmanian. 97s 6d to 100 s; New Zealand, 85s to 87s fid. Beans. —Quiet. New Zealand, 46s to 475. THE PRICE OF GOLD Gold is quoted at 84s llAd per oz. P. AND O. SHARES P. and O. (deferred stock) are quoted at £285. THE METAL MARKETS (Quotations on August S in parentheses.)
