AFRAID TO LOVE
WORK OF E. H. GRIFFITH E. 11. Griffith, veteran director, wielded the megaphone for Florence Vidor’s next Paramount starring picture, “Afraid to Love.” Griffith has gained a distinctive reputation for his work with comedy dramas. Among some of his best known pictures are “Ataboy,” with Monty Banks, “Headlines,” “Bad Company,” “The Go-Getter,” “The Sea Raiders,” “Week End Husbands,” and “Scrambled Wives.” Miss Vidor was originally stated to make “Afraid to Love” at the Paramount Long Island studio, but shorly after she reached New York, she became ill, necessitating the postponement of the production, which was to be directed by Luther Reed. Her physician advised her to return to southern California to recuperate and she came back to Hollywood after regaining her health. Meanwhile, Reed came to the west coast to direct Adolphe Menjou in “Evening Clothes.”
