CHANGES IN AGREEMENT (THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON. Friday. The Minister of Customs, the Hon. | W. Downie Stewart, said in the House J of Representatives to-day that al- j though correspondence had passed between the New Zealand Government | and South Africa with a view to a | modification of the existing trade j agreement between the two countries, no finality had yet been reached. This ( statement was made in reply to Sir John Luke, member Tor Wellington North, who asked the Minister if a cable intimating a possible termination of the agreement was correct. Mr. Stewart said the cable was not quite correct. The Prime Minister had spoken to the Prime Minister of South Africa while he was in London, and negotiations were still proceeding to bring the agreement on to a more' equitable basis from the Dominion’s point of view.
