Police Raid Gaming House in Hobson Street This Morning
STATE COLLECTS £129 IN FINES THIS morning detectives raided premises at 115 Hobson Street as a result of which Thomas Curran was charged with keeping a common gaming house, and the State benefited to the extent of £129. Later in the day he appeared at the Magistrate’s Court before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., and was fined £75.
ARCHIBALD ANDERSON and William McMillan were each fined £25 on a charge of assisting in keeping the gaming-house. Lily Peters and another William McMillan were each charged £2 for being unlawfully on the premises at 115 Hobson Street.
Chief-Detective Ward prosecuted, and the case was put through immediately. The raid was carried out at about 11 o’clock this morning by DetectiveSergeant J. O’Brien and Detectives Nalder and O’Sullivan.
