RIGHTEOUSNESS
Some third-rate pugs had resorted to crime.
They were captured and gaoled. A wave of righteous wrath overBwept the town. Boxing and boxers were "no class,” even the Y.M.C.A. suspended its boxing classes. Fighters and their retinues were evicted from the town. The innocent suffered with the guilty. The criminal pugilists were detained, awaiting trial, for an unconscionably long time. The courts were
busy, proceeding with the trial and conviction of the Mayor and City Attorney , both of whom received heavy sentences for bribe-taking. If your recollections include a sufficient knowledge of the past history ot Western American minor ring events, and Supreme Court annals, you will have no difficulty in identifying the city. The fight game was almost as foully besmirched as was the municipal government. The municipal government therefore abolished the fight game.
