PARNELL TENNIS COURTS

Sir, — I understand the new tennis courts being made by the City Council at Parnell Park are being laid down in grass. If this is so, it will be a cource of disappointment to the majority of tennis players. The city is singularly lacking in facilities for winter tennis, and furthermore, there are a great many players who would patronise the courts for an early morning game during the summer months if the courts were laid down in some material that would be unaffected by the early morning dampness. From the revenue and upkeep point of view it would seem that hard courts would If, ~m uch Preferable as the upkeep is er so much less and the revenue so much greater owing to the fact that tlie courts would be extensively patronised all the year round. There are at present only three hard courts sufAif! 6 - to .i. he Public, these being situated m Victoria Park. They are -very good courts, but are not well situated.
