BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS

AUCKLAND TEAM LEAVES The Auckland representatives at the New Zealand boxing championships at Invercargill on August 17, 18 and 19 left by train last evening. The team comprises: Fly-weight, F. Pearcey; bantam, J. O’Sullivan; light, T. Slattery; welter, E. Armishaw; cruiser, A. Hogg; heavy, P. McCarthy. Mr. Henry Donovan is accompanying the team as trainer and Mr. Frank Burns is the manager. All of the boxers are in fine trim and should give a good account of themselves at the meeting. Slattery had the misfortune to injure his lip at the beginning of the week, but it has now practically healed.
