Native Rates.— lt is stated that £4,000 is owing in native rates to the Rotorua County Council. Berne Bomb Outrage. —A bomb exploded in Berne on Thursday. It wrecked a tramway station and injured 15 persons, including two women.—A. and N.Z.-Sun. Fire at Silverdale. —A six-roomed house belonging to Mr. W. Green, of Silverdale, was burnt down early on Tuesday morning, nearly all its contents being destroyed. The owner’s loss is considerable. Body in Harbour. —The body of John O’Kar.e, aged 5?, was found in the harbour at Wellington near the Clyde Quay Baths, just after 8 a.m. yesterday. He was missing on Wednesday evening.— Press Assn. Austrian Alpinist Killed. —L>r. Otto Sachs, a specialist in venereal diseases, was killed through a fall when ho was climbing the Finstermunz, a narrow pass in the Tyrolese Alps, in Austria.— A. and N.Z. Railway Employee Injured. —A railway employee, Mr. J. McDowell, of Great South Road, Otahuliu, was admitted to the Auckland Hospital yesterday afternoon suffering from slight head injuries.
