WATERSIDERS’ DENIAL
HOLD UP OF CARTER’S SHOW Press Association. WELLINGTON, To-day. The Waterside Union, through : ~ president, denies that “Carter Great’s” properties were held up through the refusal of the men work. He says that this luggage was so stowed in the hold that under no i circumstances could it have been | reached before 10 p.m., but owing to I the perishable goods being on the top, j the employers ordered the men to knock off for fear of damage by rain. A message from Wellington yesterday .stated that the watersiders took a vote whether they should continue or not, and although Carter had important properties in the hold, and offered the men good money to go on with the work, they decided after a further vote not to do *o.
