A deputation from the Mew Zealand ExService League paid a visit to the home on Sunday morning to inquire into tire matter. We spent the whole of the morning there, and herewith give our views of things as we found them. The place is, as to cleanliness, A model which many other institutions would do well to follow. As to gardening for the men, a gardener is employed because no one there will do any. At the s f ln }° time there is ground for them it they wish to work it. There is also a shed full of wood available for anyone who is looking for a little exercise which, needless to say, is not rushed. After having a private chat with some of the inmates, I was told they consider their home as being second to none in Auckland, which is
quite understandable after seeing £ As to the men not being able to ha* tires, if a tire is not already aMgb: which seemingly is rare, the men «* at liberty immediately to light (me. fe fact, as they t«.ld us. it is a homefrw home. We (ire more than satisfi* that Major and Mrs. Knutsford obsicier the men's welfare before tber If any of your readers have reafic matter of any description which bk' do not require, we would esteem it - great favour if it could be to the Veterans’ Home, as react matter is always welcomed by the re sidents.
