MISSIONARY UNION

WORK OF PRESBYTERIANS Most of the city and suburban branches of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union, as far south as Manurewa, were represented at the 24th annual meeting of the Auckland Presbyterian Association in St. Andrew’s Hall yesterday afternoon. The Rev. F. B. Barton, moderator of the Presbytery, presided. The annual report, presented by the secretary, Miss Young, showed that Auckland branches of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union, now totalled 54, an increase of three, and the members numbered 1,072, an increase of 40. The sum of £1,671 was raised compared with £1,964 last year. The budget system of church finance was considered responsible for the decrease. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs. Webster; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames Miller, Ryburn, Harries and McDonald, and Miss Wilson; secretaries, Misses Young and Galloway; treasurer, Miss Wingate. The Rev. J. L. Gray, missionary from the Punjab, India, gave an address on the present situation in India as a call to prayer.
