A NOTABLE FIGURE
MANY SECRETS GUARDED
(British Official Wireless. — Copyright) Reed. 11.59 a.m. RUGBY, To-day. Sir George Lewis, who met his death tragically by a railway accident in Switzerland, was one of the most notable figures in the London legal world. He was the head of the firm of solicitors, Lewis and Lewis, which was built up by his father, Sir George Lewis.
Like his father, he was employed in many celebrated cases, and was the guardian of secrets told to him by many famous people. He maintained, however, a tradition successfully developed by his father, of being a confidential adviser to clients in trouble and difficulty, rather than a technical legal expert. His best achievements were probably in cases which never reached the court, and of which no one but those concerned ever heard anything.—A. and N.Z.
