REWARD FOR HIT-RUN DRIVERS Fifty dollars reward will be paid, by the Carolina Motor Club, North Carolina. to anyone detecting and apprehending a “hit-and-run” motorist. While the new State statute provides that a motorist who is involved in an accident must stop, there is said to be no adequate machinery for enforcing the law and the club fears that many cases of drivers involved in accidents immediately leaving the scene, may be expected. The club will also actively work for conviction of any cases of careless or reckless driving reported to it.
Unequal pressure of four-wheel brakes or a sudden hard twist in turning a corner may upset the balance of the front wheels. A slight shock, a bump against the kerb or over a rut may be other causes for such trouble. m * + The motor-bus was proceeding in a rather jerky manner, when a young woman passenger said: “What’s wrong with the car?” “The engine misses,” replied the driver. « The young woman smiled. “How did you know I was married?” she asked.
