THE GRAND

TWO BIG COMEDIES “Oh! What a Nurse!” a Warner pistiire, stars Syd Chaplin. The story IS by Robert E. Sherwood and Bertram Bloch, and is directed by “Chuck” -Beisner. ' “Oh! What a comedy!” Syd Chaplin proved in “Charley’s Aunt” and “The Man on the Box” that lie knew how to gel: the laughs. But lie gets as many in “Oh! What a Nurse!” which is now at the Grand Theatre, as in the two other pictures together. Here is a laugh show that affords a« much entertainment as one can Stand without grevious physical discomfort. It sots out right at the start to create laughter, and it keeps it* up at a breathless, gurgling pace. Lon Chaney, whose portrayals of

cripples and weird characters have been the talk of the world, veers to the other extreme, and. physically at least, gives the public a glimpse of the real Lon Chaney, trained athlete and sportsman, in “Tell It To The Marine s,” Metro - Goldwyn - Mayer’s epic of the

Merine Corps, which is. the second feature at the Grand Theatre. As a veteran marine sergeant, Chaney heads long marches, lights strenuous battles —and shows that he’s far from a cripple. In fact—one has to be an athlete, he holds, to play crippled roles. William Haines, Eleanor Boardman and a notable cast appear in the new picture, filmed with Government cooperation.
