QUARTETTE TAKES CHARGE

AT HOME IN STRANGE HOUSE LITTLE BACCHANAL STAGED r JpHERE was not much music in the quartette which stood in the dock at the Police Court this morning. The male voices were Sydney Murfitt, aged 31, and Selwyn Wood, aged 34; the female, Willa Podger, aged 30, and Nellie Stipich, aged 29. They were charged with being found without lawful excuse in a furnished house in Laurie Avenue, Parnell. Detective-Sergeant Kelly said that the owner of the house, which is unoccupied, is in America, and the four accused were found in possession, playing the piano and drinking. One of the men said he had permission from a nephew of the owner to make use of the house. The accused were remanded to appear on Tuesday.
