AUCKLAND SHOW

DATES FIXED TO BE HELD DEC. 2 AND 3 rPHE dates of the Auckland Show were fixed for December 2 and 3 at a meeting of the committee of the Auckland Metropolitan A. and P. Association to-day. This will avoid clasing with other fixtures and the Royal Show at churchMr. J. P. Kalaugher wrote protesting against the dates for the Auckland Show, November 11 and 32, us they would clash with the Royal Show at Christchurch on November 9, 10 and 11. The Friesian Association and the Auckland Provisional District Committee of the A. and P. Association also wrote requesting that dates be altered. Mr. W. W. Massey, president, said that at a previous meeting it had been suggested that they go back to original dates, December 2 and 3. He said he did not think it a fair thing to hold the dates, November 11 and 12, as Canterbury could not alter Its dates for the Royal Show, although Canterbury had not considered Auckland last year. Several Auckland members would want to visit Christchui^n. Mr, M. G. McArthur moved that the Auckland Show dates be December 2 and 3, though he thought it was too late in the year. Mr. S- Hodge objected to the attitude Christchurch took up last year. It had absolutely refused to change its dates. He agreed that the Au< . - land Show be held the first week in December. Mr. Massey pointed out that this ye;ir the Royal Show was being held in Christchurch. OTHER BUSINESS A confidential copy of the proposed Stock Amendment Bill was forwarded by the Royal Show Society. The president, Mr. Massey, and Messrs. G. R. Hutchinson, S. Hamlin and A. D. Bell were set up as a committee to discuss the Bill. A vote of condolence with the lapMr. C. F. Mark was carried. The question of covering the horseboxes at the show was brought by an offer of £lO for the purpose. Mr. Massey said that although other show animals were provided for, no provision was made for horses. He did not advocate the spending of money. It was decided that at ahe next show provision would be made to have all breeding horses put under cover. The subject was referred to the Space Committee for a full discussion. Mr. C. AV. Anderson was unanimously elected to the committee. Messrs. C. F. Thompson and E. Earl Vaile were elected members of the association.
