PERSONAL. —Captain W. Whitefield, who has reported from holidays, has been appointed master of the Kamo, relieving Captain C. J. Hackworth, who has transferred to command of the Kaimai. Captain A. Reed has been appointed to the command of the Kurow. His deck officers are the following: Chief officer (temporarily), Mr. W. E. Willis; second, Mr. W. 1 Hill; third, Mr. C. G. Welch. Mr. G. J. Webb has been transferred to the Maheno as third officer, relieving Mr. D. Burgess, who will await instructions. Captain A. B. Sizer lias been appointed master of the Kartigi, relieving Captain S. Hewitt, who will await instructions. Captain G. A. Gray, late of the Waipahi, arrived at Wellington by the Makura on Tuesday and has proceeded to Auckland to convalesce. HORORATA FOR TOKOMARU BAY. The New Zealand Shipping Company is endeavouring to clear the Hororata from Auckland on Sunday* for Tokomaru Bay* to lift further cargo for London. TOFUA LEAVES SUVA. —Cable advice received by the Union Company states that the Island passenger steamer Tofua sailed from Suva at 4.15 p.m. yesterday* for Auckland, where she is expected next Monday. KAITOKE FOR AUCKLAND.-The Union Company advises that the cargo steamer Kaitoke, from Sydney and Newcastle, is to leave Suva on August 18 for Auckland, where she is due on August 23. NIAGARA AT SUVA. —The Union Company* have been advised that the R.M.S. Niagara arrived at Suva this morning from Auckland and leaves at 5 p.m. to-day* for Honolulu, Victoria and Vancouver. WAIRUNA COMING.— The Union Company has been advised by cable that the trans-Pacific cargo steamer Wairuna left San Francisco at 8 p.m. last Monday with cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Sy*dney. She is expected to arrive here on August 30. TEKOA DELAYED. The New Zealand Shipping Company* advises that the departure of the steamer Tekoa from Wellington for London and West of England ports has been postponed from August 13 until August 16. The Tekoa leaves Napier to-mor-row for Wanganui and Wellington to complete her loading. MATATUA DUE NEXT FRIDAY.— Leaving Wellington to-night for Napier, Gisborne and Auckland. the Shaw, Savill an Albion steamer Matatua is due here next Friday to complete her loading. The agents. L. £). Nathan and Co., hope to dispatch the vessel finally* from here on August 16 for Antwerp and London via Cape Horn. RIMUTAKA’S ITINERARY. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the steamer Rimutaka leaves Lyttelton to-morrow for New Plymouth, where she completes her discharge and commences loading. She will subsequently load at Oamaru, Bluff, Ly*ttelton and Wellington. She is expected to clear Wellington finally on August 31 for Southampton and London via Panama.

TAMAROA SAILS SUNDAY.— A. S. Paterson and Company* are dispatching the Shaw. Savill and Albion liner from Auckland on Sunday morning for Gisborne, where she will continue her Homeward loading. WHANGAPE ARRIVES. The Union Company's collier Whangape, Captain Gray, arrived at Auckland this morning from Newcastle, and berthed at the King's Wharf to land her cargo of coal. She left the coal port at 6.30 a.m. last Saturday*, and experienced fine weather with variable light breezes and smooth seas for the run across the Tasman Sea. Her actual steaming time was 5 days 23 hours, and is the fastest time the Whangape has taken to do the trip. On completion of her discharge, the vessel will return to Newcastle to load again for this port, after which she will undergo her annual overhaud and survey* at this port.
