OSTEND ROAD BOARD
RATES FOR THIS YEAR Rates for the current year were levied at the monthly meeting of the Ostend Road Board last evening, as follow: —General, lid in the £ ; hospital. 4d in the £ ; and special loan rate. 6-10 d in the £ ; a total of 2 l-10d in the £, being a slight reduction on those struck for the previous year. Licences were granted to ' Mr. J. Whitaker for a public hall at Ostend, and to Mr. A. E. Leßoy at Onetangi. It was reported that in spite of the exceptionally heavy rain the main Onetangi Road was standing up very well. It was decided to do a certain amount of work on Short Street, the propertyowners of that street offering to contribute to the work to be done. Belgium Street is to be metalled with the assistance of a ratepayer who offered his services.
