REPRESENTATIVE RUGBY

SOUTH CANTERBURY MATCH THREE AUCKLAND TEAMS IN ACTION THREE Auckland representative teams will be in action tomorrow, two at Eden Park, and one at Thames. Auckland should win in both the home matches. The South Canterbury team, to meet the A representatives, arrived from Stratford this morning-.

OOUTH Canterbury’s performances on tour have not so far been impressive. The trippers have been beaten by Wellington. Wanganui and Taranaki, each opposing side piling up tallies running into the twenties. The Southerners were not able to bring up their star performer. K. F. Stewart, who was one of the best forwards in the 1924 All Black team. Stewart could not get leave to go further than Wellington with the team. Another good player, Mahan, was also unable to get leave. With the team, however, is G. P. Lawson, who was a five-eighth with the 1925 All Black team in New South Wales. He and his brother, A. Lawson, have exhibited good form thus far in the tour. Another sound performer is D Fairbrother, who was an All Black candidate as a fullback. The team’s weakness seems to be forward, in which case the doubtful Auckland pack, which is weakened by the absence of Wanoa, sfiould be able to hold its own. AUCKLAND TEAM Though not named among the 22 for training, Butler (University) has again been added to the reserve line. Paewai should be sufficiently sound at fullback, and there is nothing wrong with the three-quarter line. Badeley is travelling' in the North, and cannot play, and Matheson (Training College) is at present indisposed. In the forwards B. Fletcher and Fell are from B grade Rugby. Both are good forwards. Fletcher, a brother to a former All Black, is no stranger to representative Rugby, and Fell is a fine stamp of player. The changes in the team are largely of an experimental nature. L. Righton. who was married on Wednesday, is not available. The teams are: Auckland. —Fullback.
