FIRE AT WAIUKU

DWELLING BURNED DOWN (From Our Own Correspondent.) WAIUKU, To-day. A fire broke out at 3.30 on Wednesday morning in a four-roomed house at the corner of Sandspit Road and King Street, Waiuku, owned by Mr. J. ,C. Simmonds, and occupied by Mr. W. Anderson. Mr. Anderson was the only occupant at the time, he having been engaged packing his furniture, as they were leaving that day for Auckland. When he awoke he discovered the roof ablaze, and escaped just in time, the house and contents being completely destroyed. He also lost £25 in notes. It is thought that the fusing of electric wires was the cause of the outbreak. There was a small insurance on the furniture, but the insurance on the house is £475.
