AN EXPERT’S FEAR FAMINE AND REVOLUTION By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright LONDON, Wednesday. “There is a real danger of a worldwide economic breakdown,” said Sir George Paish, the well-known economist, in a speech at the League .of Nations’ Union Summer School, which is being held at Oxford. “The world has never been so deeply in debt as now,” said Sir George. “If there should be a break in the unity of the world, such as many leading authorities fear, the result would be widespread starvation, which might lead to a revolution. “In such a contingency the loss of life may be greater than in the war. “America is giving credit on a scale which cannot possibly last. The leading bankers of the world think a great crash must come unless she changes her financial policy.”—A. and N.Z.
