THAMES PIONEERS
A LOCAL RE-UNION FUNCTION NEXT SATURDAY A very happy thought on the part of the executive of the Old Thames Girls’ Association is the proposal to entertain Thames pioneers who were unable to journey to Thames to take part in the jubilee celebrations. The proposals have now taken definite form and at the concert chamber on Saturday afternoon it is expected that a considerable number of pioneers will assemble for the purpose of celebrating the event. The re-union will take place at two o’clock when the assembly will be addressed by Archbishop Averill, Bishop Liston and representatives of other denominations. A musical programme has been arranged and afternoon tea will also be provided. Under the direction of Mrs. Oldham, president of the 0.T.G.A., no effort has been spared to provide for the entertainment of their guests, and a very enjoyable function should result. Pioneers over the age of 70 will be admitted free. During the course of the celebrations at Thames, Mrs. Oldham conveyed a number of messages from pioneers in Auckland to old friends at Thames, the kindly service being much appreciated by the. old people. . •
