TE AWAMUTU HIGH SCHOOL
LUNCHEON ADDRESSES The monthly meeting of the committee of the Te Awamutu District High School was held on Tuesday evening, when there were present: Mr. G. S. Clarke (chairman), Mrs. W. H. Wood and Messrs. R. Ross, A. A. Reese, G. F. Smith and A. G. Weatherell. Mr. D. S. Reid. M.P., wrote stating that he had interviewed the Minister of Education regarding securing an additional area of land adjoining the main school. The Minister contended that lack of funds precluded the possibility of the department acquiring the five acres referred to. It was decided to ask the Education Board to undertake the work of asphalting the paths and drill area at the main school and offering to provide .£2O toward the cost. It was also decided to ask the board
to pay for any information bearing on the projected institution of a commercial course in district high schools. According to a statement made at a meeting of farmers at Morrinsville on Monday, there are approximately 534,000 cows in South Auckland district. # The question of arranging for a series of luncheons at which brief addresses on topical subjects could be given, was discussed at the Te Awamutu Chamber of Commerce Council meeting on Tuesday. It was decided to hold the first luncheon on Monday, August 29, and thereafter on the last Monday in each month.
